Sometimes a name is everything. Case in point: this week’s featured artist, the awesomely named, The Ultimate Bearhug. How can you not want to know what that sounds like?
Yes, I’ll admit that it was the name that hooked me first. But, I stayed for the music... a kind of folky Billie Holiday as channeled through Norah Jones. The perfect musical bear hug if you will (groan if you want, but the description is apt). Though they don’t have an album available yet, they did just reach their goal on Kickstarter, so expect to see something in early 2012. In the meantime, you can see them playing live as part of a charity toy drive this Thursday at The Copper Door in Santa Anna. TUB: It's a guarded secret. It can be found in the lost pages of the Kama Sutra.

TUB: An invitation to open for a national band on tour.
GA: What other local artists (besides yourself of course) should we be checking out?
TUB: Richard Swift, Jesca Hoop, and Jolie Holland.
GA: If you could do another gorillacoustic performance anywhere else in the world, where would you do it?
TUB: A pirate ship.
GA: Congrats on reaching your kickstarter goal. Any last words to those who supported you?
TUB: We're overwhelmed by the love and support for the project.
